Ultra-high energy neutrino searches with the Pierre Auger Observatory

Abstract: Ultra-high energy neutrinos (UHE s) can interact in the atmosphere (downward-going) or in the Earth crust (Earth-skimming), producing air showers that can be observed with the Surface Detector Array of the Pierre Auger Observatory. The distinguishing signature for neutrino events is the presence of very inclined showers produced close to the ground, after having traversed a large amount of atmosphere. In this work we present the results of the searches performed with the Pierre Auger Observatory which lead to competitive limits to both diffuse and point like sources of energies above 1017 eV.
