GRB Science with the Cherenkov Telescope Array

Author: Paul O'Brien

Abstract: CTA is a global project to build over 100 Cherenkov telescopes in two arrays, to deliver an observatory for observations from 20 GeV to 300 TeV. CTA will have a rapid slewing capability and a wide field of view, making it a powerful instrument for GRB studies. The GRB science objectives of CTA include constraining the jet physics and probing the hadronic signatures of GRBs as well as using GRBs to study the Extragalactic Background Light at high redshift and as a probe of fundamental physics by searching for evidence of Lorentz invariance violation.
